INTRODUCTION
Each local chapter of the League appoints a scholarship committee made up of its members. These committees accept applications during the school year and present awards to the most outstanding student of Italian descent. Scholarship amounts are determined annually at the beginning of the year according to the League’s budget. Apply now to be considered.

ABOUT THE IACL
Established in 1934, the Italian-American Civic League of Utah is a nonprofit devoted to advancing the civic, social, and educational interests of Italian-Americans in Utah. This scholarship supports Utah seniors of Italian heritage who exemplify those values.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must:
- Be of Italian ancestry
- Be a graduate of a Utah high school in the 2025–2026 academic year
- Intend to enroll as a degree-seeking student at a public or private institution of higher education
APPLICATION MATERIALS (due by March 31, 2026)
Submit the following items by the deadline:
1. Official application form (provided)
2. Résumé highlighting academic achievements and extracurricular involvement
3. Essay 1 — Describe your future educational and career goals (maximum 300 words)
4. Essay 2 — Explain your Italian ancestry and how it has shaped your life (maximum 600 words)
5. Most recent official Utah high school transcript, including ACT and/or SAT scores
6. Two letters of recommendation
SELECTION CRITERIA
Applications will be evaluated and scored by the committee using these weightings:
- Extracurricular involvement: 25%
- Essays: 25%
- High school academic record: 40%
- Participation in an Italian cultural organization: 10%
AWARD INFORMATION
Scholarship funds, ranging from $1,000 to $4,000, will be paid directly to the recipient for eligible education-related costs such as tuition, books, housing, and fees.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Upon accepting the scholarship and before funds are released, recipients must provide a recent digital photograph and a short biography within 30 days. These materials will be used in the Festa Italiana program book (Salt Lake City Italian Festival) and other IACL publications.
OTHER NOTES
All applications are reviewed and scholarships are awarded by both the Men’s and Women’s Chapters of the IACL. Per IACL bylaws, an individual may receive only one scholarship from the League.
