Golden Opportunity Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by California Pork Producers Association
The California Pork Producers Association (CPPA) is committed to fostering the growth and success of the state's pork industry by investing in the education and training of its future leaders. To this end, the CPPA has initiated several programs aimed at inspiring and supporting young individuals interested in the pork industry. In 2024, the association granted scholarships totaling $15,300.
Each year, the CPPA organizes the Golden Opportunity Sale as part of the California Youth Ag Expo (CYAE) in Tulare. This event showcases the finest gilts raised and exhibited in the state, and serves as a platform to acknowledge the dedication and effort of our young participants. All proceeds from the Golden Opportunity Sale are allocated towards funding scholarships for outstanding youth in California.
The CPPA offers these scholarships to eligible applicants who have previously participated as swine exhibitors at the CYAE, and who are either high school graduates or currently enrolled in a recognized California community college, state university, or trade school (ages 17-25).
The Golden Opportunity Scholarships are presented at the California Youth Ag Expo show in Tulare, CA, with the funds being derived from the previous year's sale.
The application process for the Golden Opportunity Scholarship is currently underway. The deadline for submission is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 27th.
